A workshop at the ACM International AI in Finance Conference (ICAIF'25)
Singapore • November 15-16, 2025
"AI for Resilient, Responsible DeFi Dynamics (AI-R2D2)" addresses the critical need for advanced AI solutions in the rapidly evolving Decentralized Finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
While DeFi promises transparency and efficiency, its inherent volatility, composability risks, and smart contract vulnerabilities introduce complex challenges demanding robust analytical and decision-making capabilities.
AI is indispensable for navigating many of these unique DeFi dynamics, offering the potential to build a more resilient and responsible future. Our workshop will facilitate scholarly conversations on AI's transformative role in DeFi through enhanced risk mitigation, real-time systemic resilience, the development of intelligent and autonomous governance models, and by providing deeper insights into market dynamics to optimize efficiency.
As the first workshop with this dedicated and integrated focus, AI-R2D2 fills a crucial gap at ICAIF'25, providing a timely forum for researchers and practitioners to explore how AI can ensure robust, ethical, and stable decentralized financial systems.
The AI-R2D2 workshop plans to invite submissions on a wide range of topics related to the application of AI in Decentralized Finance (DeFi), with a particular emphasis on robustness, stability, and ethical considerations.

Join us for an inspiring keynote exploring resilient derivatives for DeFi.
Speaker: Dr. Zachary Feinstein, Stevens Institute of Technology
Discover how Amortizing Perpetual Options (AmPOs) deliver deterministic costs while removing oracle dependencies for DeFi risk management.
Decentralized finance (DeFi) requires robust derivatives for risk management, yet on-chain options protocols remain fragile. Existing designs have prioritized capital efficiency while sacrificing decentralization through oracles or financial security through unpredictable costs. This mirrors the blockchain trilemma: security, decentralization, and scalability cannot all be maximized simultaneously; prioritizing scalability first forces concessions on decentralization or security. This talk introduces Amortizing Perpetual Options (AmPOs), a new derivative primitive to secure both decentralization and financial security. AmPOs permit pricing via endogenous utilization-based rules with physical settlement to eliminate oracles, and an amortization-based premium schedule to guarantee deterministic costs and yields. This design enables use cases that existing protocols cannot support, including a viable options market for the long-tail of digital assets and robust, trustless de-pegging insurance markets.
Dr. Zachary Feinstein is an Associate Professor in the School of Business at Stevens Institute of Technology. He serves as the Director of the Financial Engineering and Data Science Doctoral Programs at Stevens Institute, the Director of Research for the NSF-funded CRAFT Center, and is the Vice Chair for the INFORMS Section on Finance. Prior to joining Stevens Institute, Dr. Feinstein earned his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2014 and was a faculty member at Washington University in St. Louis from 2014-2019. He has published numerous works in financial systemic risk, decentralized finance, and machine learning. Dr. Feinstein has written multiple articles on financial topics related to popular fiction; these works have been highlighted on Bloomberg TV, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal among many other prominent news outlets.
Assistant Professor of Computer Science, RPI
Dr. Seneviratne leads the Bridging Resilient Accountable Intelligent Networked Systems (BRAINS) Lab. Her research expertise lies at the intersection of AI and decentralized systems with special emphasis on smart contract innovations.
